"The tragic story of a lion in love"
This essay I wrote for UCC English, had to write an essay a fable

I first meet the lion sometime ago.  I was cutting some logs outside my house, when a fierce lion appeared.  At first glace I was horrified of him, until his kind words put me at ease.  “Fear not, I am a broken fool, incapable of harm.”  As I gazed at the lion the second time, I notice that his claws were trimmed and his big teeth removed.  Shocked by his appearance, I ask him what had happened.  He let out a great sigh.  “It's a long painful story, one that I care not to tell.”  “Perhaps, I can help.”  I said to my troubled friend.  He looked up at me and laughed.  “I fail to see how you can help me,” He stated.  “Try me,” I grinned.  His eyes closed, and he let out another sigh.  He slowly opened his eyes, “It all began sometime ago, when I meet the most beautiful maiden life its self has ever seen.”  He paused; tears began to run down his cheek.  “She has beautiful golden locks,” he continued.  “She has very pretty green eyes, and a smile that could launch a thousands ships.  She is a very slim girl, who never talked out of line.  We meet out in the wilderness, near the Friendly Tap pub and dinner.  She was being attack by some dangerous monsters.  I quickly jump into the fight and began to clean house.  I sank tooth and claw into any that would dare harm my angel.  After I defeated those demons, I swiftly moved toward the heavenly goddess and ask her if she was harmed.  At first she trembled at my presence, then sweetly she said, “Are you hurt?”  Blood dripped from my forearm, pain shot up my back.  Her silk-like hands quickly grabbed my rough forearm and wrapped her bandana around my flesh wound.  She kissed my wound, the pain in my back had left me and the wound felt much better.  She moved closer towards me, looking at me eye to eye, “Thank you!” She said as she laid a wet one on my cheek.  My heart skipped a beat, I felt like I was on cloud nine. I picked myself off the ground and she jumped on my back.  She meekly stated, “My dear sweet lion, its very late and my family must be worried sick about me.”  I dash toward her home.  I had about a hundred miles to run, but for me that was no problem.”  As the night rolled on, all I could think about was her smile.  Night after night, we meet and had the time of our lives.  It seam like nothing could stop us, until the night I proposed” Suddenly, he stopped, I jumped back in fear, little to my surprise he was crying.  He quickly wiped off the tears and continued, “I ask her parents for her hand, their jaws seamed to fall on to the earth.  Her father talked me and told me that I'm too fierce to wed his daughter.  He told me, that in order to marry her; I most remove my big teeth and claws.  Being madly in love and foolish as I was, I agreed.  Therefore, I departed and came back an hour later.  However, to my surprise, the father laughed at me and began to shoot at me with his gun.  I jumped at him, but with out my teeth and claws, I couldn't fight.  The old man easily defeated me; I held my head in shame and ran away.”  After the lion told his story, we became the best of friends.  We were unstoppable force, there wasn't anything that we couldn't handle, expect death.  He found his death at the hands of a mountain.  After his demise, I walked freely until I got here.  The warden looked at with such disbelief.  He did buy my story.  “Talking lion?  Do you really think I would believe such.”  Before he could finish, five claws came out of his belly and ripped his torso.  I looked at the dismembered corpse in fear, then I looked up, and my grief slowly became happiness.
